Apple iPad uses the default electronic colour space of sRGB.
PDFs generated through Pages, Word, ...
PDFs generated by Pages, Microsoft Word or similar software are already in the correct colour space, and no colour correction is necessary.
PDFs generated through InDesign
PDFs that are exported from Adobe InDesign should be exported using our recommended publishing settings. A PDF Preset .joboptions file for Adobe InDesign can be downloaded here.
PDFs without a source-file
If the art-file or source-file of a PDF that needs to be colour corrected is missing, Adobe Acrobat Pro DC can be used to convert the PDF to sRGB colour. This feature is only available in Adobe Acrobat Pro DC, but isn’t available in Adobe Reader.
The colour optimisation tool can be found at [Adobe Acrobat Pro DC] > [Tools] > [Optimise for Web and Mobile].
In rare cases optimising the PDF through Adobe Acrobat Pro DC doesn’t correct the colours when displayed on a mobile device. Then the PDF needs to be re-edited in InDesign and directly exported with the above-recommended settings.
If you don't have access to Adobe products please get in touch with a digital agency to produce PDFs in sRGB colour space.
